Welcome to the last newsletter for 2022.  As always, it's an exciting end to the year with report cards going out, Graduation, Shuffle Up Day and class parties.

The end of the school year is fast approaching and the school has a busy feel to it as students and teachers finish off the year’s learning. Many students are already talking about their holiday break and the Year 6 students are sharing their nervous excitement as they prepare to move into high school and a new phase of their educational journey.

The end of the year is often a time that we reflect on our achievements and express gratitude.  I wish to express my gratitude to the dedicated and committed professionals who make up the Rochedale State School team. Every member of staff has worked hard in 2022 to improve learning outcomes for all students.

I thank all staff members for the care and compassion they bring to their jobs in educating and supporting your children.

Thank you to the Rochedale State School community for your support and commitment to your child’s education.

The end of the year is also a time that we farewell staff who are leaving.

Transfers to new schools:

• Mrs Jodie Bloom and Mrs Jenny Cansdale on their transfer to a new school in Yarrabilba.
• Mrs Kelly Frintzilas on her transfer to Shailer Park SS.
• Ms Eliza Joannides on her transfer to a Brisbane South school.
• Mrs Catherine Atkins has been transferred as a Guidance Officer to another school.

The following staff have made the decision to leave for personal or family reasons:

We sincerely thank each of the teachers who are leaving Rochedale for their contribution to the Rochedale community, we wish them every success at their new schools.

2023 Book Pack Drop off

Parents and carers are welcome to drop off 2023 Book Packs on Thursday 19 January between 1pm and 3pm.  Classrooms will be open for you to drop off book packs, Teacher Aides will be available to assist parents in locating classrooms.

I’d like to wish all of our families a very Merry Christmas.  Have a lovely holiday with your delightful children. 

A very special thank you to the parents, carers and grandparents who support the school through volunteering their time, your support is appreciated by me, staff and children.

Please see the attached letter regarding students with medication at school.  All medication not collected by 4pm on Friday 9 December will be disposed of through the returning unwanted medicines project.  This is an Education Queensland policy requirement.

If your child/ren have lost any school items eg, jumper, hat. drink bottle or lunch boxes, we will have all lost property on display out the front of RPAC on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.   Anything left after this time will be donated to charity.

*******IT IS NOW A REQUIREMENT THAT ALL STUDENT ABSENCES BE REPORTED ON THE DAY OF THE ABSENCE TO THE SCHOOL OFFICE*******

If your student is absent and the school has not been notified of the reason, a text message will be sent to parents by 9.30am requesting a reason for the absence. If you receive a text, please reply and explain your child's absence to avoid reeceiving a follow up phone call from the school office.

To report a student absence:

Please call the absence line on 3340 8388 or text our SMS line on 0427 890 693.  These lines are both open 24 hours a day. You can also use the SMS line to report a planned late arrival to school eg; doctor's appointment. 

When recording an absence on either our phone line or SMS line, please state the following:

1. Your name
2. Student's name
3. Student's class
4. Reason for absence

Please speak clearly and slowly and help us with spelling of names when calling the phone line.

Volunteers needed for back-to-school fitting days in January. Back-to-school fitting days are special hours that are different to our regular opening times. Please note: We are open for over-the-counter sales! Any questions or concerns can be sent to uniform@rochedalesspandc.com.au

P&C NEWS: P&C (eq.edu.au) 

Some of our P&C Execs will be leaving us next year and we thank them for their support and dedication to improving our school. Our Annual General Meeting - Tuesday February 28 at 6pm. All are welcome. Why not come along to a meeting, no need to join immediately. There are many benefits of volunteering. Volunteering provides you with a sense of purpose, a sense of community, it increases your social skills and allows you to make many new friends. If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to pandc@rochedalss.eq.edu.au
