Jeanette started as a volunteer at Rochedale State School when her children attended school and then became an official employee in 1990. Jeanette intends to take long term leave next year with the view of retiring at the end of September 2023, this will see Jeanette as the longest serving employee in Rochedale’s history (33 years and 9 months).Jeanette’s smiling face and can-do attitude will be sadly missed within the school and especially in the office. We wish you all the very best Jeanette as you slip into a well-deserved retirement.

Lorraine Grinter – library Teacher Aide

Lorraine, we thank you for what you have done for Rochedale State School. From the P & C days to the library days, we are thankful for having you as a part of the Rochedale team. Your commitment to making the library a better place – a place for students to build their passion for reading, a place for students to take refuge at lunchtime. You will very much be missed.

Brenda Schuurman - cleaner

Brenda a huge thank you for all your hard work and diligence over the past 8 years. Your quiet presence and wonderful work ethic has been seen and experienced throughout the school over these years with your high standard of work. 2023 Classes

With an anticipated enrolment of 1040 students next year, we will have 43 classes. These will consist of straight classes. The teachers and leadership team have spent considerable time constructing classes which consider the needs of all students.

Students will be introduced to their 2023 teachers at ‘Shuffle Up’ day on Friday 2  December.

Please note that classes and teachers can change depending on enrolment numbers.

School resumes on Monday 23 January 2023 for all children from Prep to Year 6. All state schools are staffed on the Day 8 Enrolment data collection at the start of the school year. Whether we form straight classes or multi-age classes is dependent on enrolment numbers on Day 8 – 2 February 2023. Parents are reminded that class composition, teacher year level allocations and class placements are all subject to adjustment post Day 8.

For audit purposes, it is vital we have correct enrolment numbers at the commencement of the 2023 school year. If you will be returning later than the school start date, please also indicate your intended date of return and reason such as visiting family overseas. You will be requested to complete an acceptable evidence form, please email Jane Jeffrey jjeff157@eq.edu.au

2023 Book Pack Drop off

Parents and carers are welcome to drop off 2023 Book Packs on Thursday 19 January between 1pm and 3pm.  Classrooms will be open for you to drop off book packs, Teacher Aides will be available to assist parents in locating classrooms.

Reminder….

As we move into the Christmas period I know that many parents wish to give teachers a gift to thank them for the year.  I wanted to draw your attention to the EQ’s policy on receiving gifts and benefits.  In particular, employees must refuse any offer of cash, or any items which are readily converted into cash — such as a lottery ticket or ‘scratchie’, shares or a gift voucher/cards.

All gifts that have a value of more than $150 must be recorded in DETE’s gift registry.

Have a great week.

Melissa

A day on the Bay!

Our 2022 Student Leaders attended an excursion to Moreton Bay Environmental Education Centre.

We spent the morning reflecting on the year and consolidating our understanding around personality types. With this knowledge, we used our strengths to help build strategies in problem-solving situations.

After making our way down to the jetty, we boarded the vessel Inspiration and made our way over to St Helena Island for an afternoon in nature.

It was great to see our student leaders spending a day as a team and reflecting on a terrific year. The staff at the MBEEC commended our students on their positive approach to the day and their lovely manners. Thank you Mrs Gover for attending the excursion and well done to our 2022 Student Leaders.

Student Council News

Published by Rochedale State School

I would like to take the time this week to congratulate the members of the 2022 Student Council for their work throughout this year. They have worked hard hosting a number of fundraisers and community building events.

To ensure these events were planned, members gave up their Wednesday morning break times to attend weekly meetings. They also donated their time throughout the year when help was needed to put their plans into action.

Below are a few of the events the Student Council were able to hold in 2022:

  • A free dress day to raise funds for 2 sponsor students- a World Vision student in Zambia and an Australian student through the Smith Family.
  • Playground buddies to support students in prep-2 playgrounds during lunchtimes.
  • Book fair- set up, selling, helping younger students write wish lists and find items.
  • Day for Daniel- wearing red and supporting the Daniel Morecombe Foundation.
  • Selling Remembrance Day poppies and badges
  • A free dress day to raise money for St Vincent De Paul's Christmas appeal.

The Student Council members had a successful year building their leadership skills and supporting our community. Thank you to each member who showed commitment and dedicated their time to our Student Council.

Their success is also due to our wonderful community who continuously get behind these events and support the School Council. So, thank you to our Rochedale Community for your support and encouragement in 2022.

We are looking forward to the opportunities that may arise for the 2023 Student Council.
