Music

Instrumental Music at Rochedale

The Instrumental Music Program at Rochedale State School is a co-curricular music program and follows the Education Queensland Instrumental Music Curriculum. Many of our students participate in this program which offers exceptional music education through participation in group lessons and instrumental ensembles.

Instrumental strings program

(Violin & Cello)
A recruitment and selection process occurs in Term 3 of Grade 2, to select students to begin in the strings program for the following year. String lessons commence in Grade 3 for the selected students.
 
30 min String lessons currently happen during class time on Mondays (refer to string timetable) with Mr Joel Eames, and are held in the Instrumental Music Room in the Gym.
 
Junior String Ensemble is for the string students in Grade 3. Rehearsals are Monday mornings from 7:50am in the RPAC, from Term 2.
 
Senior String Ensemble is for the string students in Grades 4, 5 & 6. They rehearse on Monday afternoons in the RPAC – 3-3:45pm.
 

Instrumental band program

(Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Percussion, Bass Guitar)
 
A recruitment and selection process occurs in Term 3 of Grade 3, to select students to begin in the band program for the following year. Instrumental lessons commence in Grade 4 for the selected students.
 
30 min Instrument lessons currently happen during class time on Tuesdays (refer to instrumental timetable) with Mr Bryan Pearson or Mrs Andie Eames, and are held in the Instrumental Music Room in the Gym.

Junior Band is for the instrumental students in Grade 4. Rehearsals are during Tuesday lunchtime (play time) in the RPAC, from Term 2.

Senior Band is for the instrumental students in Grades 5 & 6. They rehearse on Tuesday mornings from 7:50am in the RPAC.

Choirs

The Choirs are an extra-curricular activity, open to anyone in the relevant grades (not audition based), as long as they commit to coming to all rehearsals and performances. There is no cost involved, unless an excursion is arranged. Both choirs are run by Joel & Andie Eames.
 
Junior Choir is for Grades 2 & 3 – and rehearses at Monday lunchtime (during play time) in the Music Room.
 
Senior Choir is for Grades 4-6 – and rehearses Thursday morning at 8am in the Music Room.
