Rochedale Raindrops Playgroup

Rochedale State School is offering placements in a rejuvenated playgroup program. Research tells us that play-based learning is a great pedagogy for building competency and capacity from a whole-child perspective and it is where many children begin their lifelong learning journey. Playgroup provides a rich learning environment where developmental opportunities are abundant and foundations are created for:
  • Literacy and numeracy
  • Socialisation
  • Emotional behaviour
  • Physical development
Playgroup is part of our school’s transition process and optimizes the engagement of families by:
  • recognising the value of parents as their child’s first teacher
  • fostering high quality parent/child interactions
  • introducing families to other members of their community
  • familiarizing families with the school grounds, facilities and staff
  • encouraging trusted relationships to develop between families and school
The Program:
  • Playgroup is for children 0 – 5 years of age.
  • The program will consist of indoor and outdoor activities, story time, music and movement and will be run by a trained facilitator and support staff member.
  • It will operate on Wednesday mornings from 9:00am – 10:15am. (Parking will be available in the school carpark at Entry No 4.)
  • There will be a small cost involved ($5) to cover expenses such as first aid, art and craft materials and play equipment
Parent Role:
  • You will need to complete the Expression of Interest form (PDF, 213 KB) and send it to the school
  • You will need to provide proof of residence for example, a rates notice, electricity bill, or lease agreement if you are renting.
  • You will be encouraged to be actively involved and to share the responsibilities of setting up and cleaning up
  • You will be responsible the safety and supervision of your own child
Due to limited spaces, the program will be available to members of the Rochedale Community only. This means you must live within the school catchment or have a child who already attends the school.
