Building a brighter future at Rochedale State School

At Rochedale State School, our strong community spirit is the foundation of our success, making our school a wonderful place for students to learn, grow, and thrive. At the heart of this community is our Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C), a driving force behind many of the improvements that enhance the experience of our students and staff every day.

Over the past 16 years, the P&C has raised an incredible $3 million for the school, through initiatives like the Snack Shack tuck shop, ROSHCA pre, after and vacation care, the Colour Run, school discos, and Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls.

Every dollar raised has been reinvested into our school, creating lasting improvements that benefit students, teachers and parents. From the ROSCHA building, cooler gym spaces to safer walkways, water bubblers and cutting-edge technology, the results of this incredible effort are visible to see all around us.

Your contributions in action

  • Fans for the gym
No more overheating during PE lessons or assemblies! The installation of fans in the gym has transformed the space into a cooler, more comfortable environment where students can burn off energy, even on the hottest days.

  • Undercover walkways
Navigating the school grounds is now safer and more accessible, thanks to upgraded walkways. These improvements benefit not just students but also parents and staff, making every journey a little easier.

  • Technology for learning
In today’s digital world, access to technology is essential for student success. With P&C funding, the school has been able to provide laptops and other vital tools, ensuring our children are prepared for the future.

Beyond these physical upgrades, the P&C’s efforts foster a deeper connection between families, the school, and our wider community. Together, we’re building not just better facilities but also a stronger sense of belonging.

Why you should get involved

Joining the P&C is about more than just fundraising—it’s about shaping the future of Rochedale State School. Your involvement, whether it’s volunteering at the tuck shop, helping out at school events, or sharing ideas at meetings, directly impacts what we can achieve.

Exciting opportunities ahead

With exciting new projects and events on the horizon in 2025 , there’s never been a better time to get involved. Whether you can donate your time, bake for the tuck shop, or simply lend your voice to discussions, there’s a place for everyone.

Mark your calendar: AGM and next P&C meeting

Ready to make a difference? Join us at the next P&C meeting and AGM on 25 February 2025. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn more about what we do, meet other parents, and help plan the next chapter of improvements for our school.

Thank you for your support

The incredible progress we’ve made wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and energy of our parents, carers, and volunteers. Together, we’re creating an exceptional environment where every Rochedale student can reach their full potential.

Let’s keep building on this success—your contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a world of difference. Share your ideas, get involved, and help us decide how we invest in making Rochedale State School even better!

P&C
The Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is a group of community-minded people, parents and citizens, who take on a more formal role to assist the school by providing:
  • Feedback on school policies and activities.
  • Additional resources to be used to enhance student learning.
  • Parents with opportunities to be involved in their child’s education.

Research has shown that parent involvement in a child’s education makes a significant contribution to the child’s success at school.

Objectives

The objectives of the association are to promote the interests of, and facilitate the development and further improvement of the school, by promoting parent participation, encouraging close cooperation between parents, students and staff and promoting positive community support.

Functions

  1. To foster general community interest in educational matters.

  2. Encourage closer cooperation between the parents of students attending the school, other members of the community, staff and students of the school/centre.

  3. To provide advice and recommendations to the Principal of the school on issues and concerns in respect of students and the general operation and management of the school.

  4. To provide or assist in the provision of financial or other resources or services for the benefit of students of the school.

  5. To perform any other functions as the Minister may determine, not inconsistent with the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 (PDF, 1 MB).

Meetings

P&C meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month unless holidays demand a change. These meetings are held in the school’s staffroom starting at 6.00pm. Please come along. We would love to see you there and would welcome your input and opinion on matters and issues relevant to our school and your children’s education.

Membership

Membership is open to all parents and citizens interested in the welfare of Rochedale State School. Prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) you may submit a membership form to the P&C Secretary via the office or by attending the AGM. At any time you can apply to become a member by completing the membership form and attending a P&C meeting. Your membership will be confirmed at the end of the meeting. You will have full voting rights from the next meeting.

Volunteering

The P&C works with the school to execute a number of activities in order to supplement the school budget in order to provide enhanced facilities and resources for students. All parents and community members are encouraged to get involved in activities as a way of uniting the school community and to enhance the educational experience for our children. Volunteering is a great way to learn more about the school and mix with other parents and members of the community. Contact the P&C and let us know what you are interested in by filling out the "Just one thing" form or contacting us directly.
