P&C
The Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is a group of community-minded people, parents and citizens, who take on a more formal role to assist the school by providing:
Feedback on school policies and activities.
Additional resources to be used to enhance student learning.
Parents with opportunities to be involved in their child’s education.
Research has shown that parent involvement in a child’s education makes a significant contribution to the child’s success at school.
Objectives
The objectives of the association are to promote the interests of, and facilitate the development and further improvement of the school, by promoting parent participation, encouraging close cooperation between parents, students and staff and promoting positive community support.
Functions
To foster general community interest in educational matters.
Encourage closer cooperation between the parents of students attending the school, other members of the community, staff and students of the school/centre.
To provide advice and recommendations to the Principal of the school on issues and concerns in respect of students and the general operation and management of the school.
To provide or assist in the provision of financial or other resources or services for the benefit of students of the school.
To perform any other functions as the Minister may determine, not inconsistent with the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 (PDF, 1 MB).
Meetings
P&C meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month unless holidays demand a change. These meetings are held in the school’s staffroom starting at 6.00pm. Please come along. We would love to see you there and would welcome your input and opinion on matters and issues relevant to our school and your children’s education.
Membership
Membership is open to all parents and citizens interested in the welfare of Rochedale State School. Prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) you may submit a membership form to the P&C Secretary via the office or by attending the AGM. At any time you can apply to become a member by completing the membership form and attending a P&C meeting. Your membership will be confirmed at the end of the meeting. You will have full voting rights from the next meeting.
Volunteering
The
P&C works with the school to execute a number of activities in order to
supplement the school budget in order to provide enhanced facilities and
resources for students. All parents and community members are encouraged to get
involved in activities as a way of uniting the school community and to enhance
the educational experience for our children. Volunteering is a great way to
learn more about the school and mix with other parents and members of the
community. Contact the P&C and let us know what you are interested in by
filling out the "Just one thing" form or contacting us directly.
