Rochedale State School is proudly an Independent Public School and an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. We deliver the internationally recognised IB Primary Years Program (PYP) which is an inquiry based framework and child centred. Our school is located on the outskirts of southern Brisbane, in a semi-rural setting, catering for approximately 1043 students. Our administration team includes a Principal, 3 Deputy Principals, a Head of Inclusion, 2 Heads of Curriculum and Business Manager.
Due to the high demand for enrolments to our school, Rochedale has a defined catchment area. Students within the catchment, and siblings of existing students, have priority when enrolling. Out of catchment students must firstly apply for an out of catchment enrolment, sit an interview with a member of the admin team and then wait to see if an appropriate placement is available. The number of out of catchment places can vary significantly from year to year and between each year level depending on vacant spaces.
Rochedale State School is committed to the learning development of the whole student, preparing students to be active and responsible global citizens with an inquiring mind. Our school curriculum focuses on the National Curriculum with Chinese and French being our languages other than English. Our IB learning framework aims to link classroom programs to real world learning opportunities and encourages our students to take action in response to what they have learned. Our students have the opportunity to be involved in numerous extra curricular activities including: instrumental music, choirs, interschool sport and opti minds.
Rochedale State School was opened in 1931 and has a mix of original buildings and more recent classrooms. Each classroom is air-conditioned and contains state of the art smart boards and computer pods. Other facilities include: a pool, two tennis courts, numerous playgrounds, and indoor hall/gym, computer lab, fulltime tuckshop, air-conditioned performance hall and outside school hours care.
We are very proud of our school and its community and believe that a strong partnership between home and school is the best way to maximise learning outcomes for all students. We have an active P&C that value and celebrate the diversity of our community and the wider world. At Rochedale State School everyone within our learning community strives to live up to our motto – 'Always our best'.
