Please view information around Religious Instruction in Queensland state schools.

Queensland state schools are required to make available religious instruction for students, where we have volunteers available to provide approved programs. This is in accordance with Chapter 5 of the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 and Part 5 of the Education (General Provisions) Regulations 2006 by making available up to one hour per week for the provision of religious instruction to students (except Prep students) who are members of a faith group that has approval to deliver religious instruction at the school.

RI informs students about the beliefs and values of a particular religion. It is delivered by volunteers of a faith group using instructional materials approved by that faith group. All instructors must hold a blue card and participate in compulsory Student Protection and Code of Conduct training.

You may wish to access the Department's RI policy statement available at: http://www.education.qld.gov.au/parents-and-carers/school-information/school-operations/policy-statement
