2021 Australian Education Awards
Rochedale State School was named Australian Primary School of the Year (Government) for 2021 at the Australian Education Awards. This is an outstanding achievement and something all in our community should be proud of. Every single member of the Rochedale Team works hard to provide the very best for our students and their families. To get this recognition is a magnificent reflection of our staff, students, parent and community members who contribute so much to our school each and every day. This prestigious school award was achieved through the collective efforts of the Rochedale Team and every single staff member is a part of this award and should feel extremely proud of their work. In addition to being named Primary School of the Year (Government), our outstanding work saw us shortlisted as one of only four schools for overall Australian School of the Year and were awarded an Excellence Award in this category.
Our school principal, Dr Keith Graham OAM, was also acknowledged at these awards and won two individual awards - Primary School Principal of the Year (Government) and the overall Australian Principal of the Year. While these two awards acknowledge individual recognition, individual achievements are very rarely solo. Individual achievements still require valuable support teams, working together, to ensure success and could not be achieved without the hard work of everyone. These four Australian Education Awards are for all of us. Sincere thanks and congratulations to everyone on the Rochedale Team. It is an honour that our work has been recognised in this way.
Employer of Choice – Rochedale State School
As part of the 2021 Australian Education Awards, an additional judging panel viewed all award submissions and identified 25 schools across Australia that have gone above and beyond to support their staff during 2021. Rochedale State School was recognised and named as one of these schools. The work we have done at Rochedale to support our staff during the world-wide pandemic and remote learning throughout 2021 was recognised and acknowledged by the judging panel. As a school we believe in working collaboratively and together to overcome challenges to create a positive work environment. Our success in creating this has seen Rochedale State School awarded The Educator's 5-Star Award for Employer of Choice. To be recognised for our work-place culture and for our support of staff throughout 2021 is truly satisfying and two things we are extremely proud of.
